Windows operating system standard programs
The standard programs are part of the operating system
Windows (WordPad text editor, graphic editor Paint, virtual calculator, etc.).
They are very diverse and allow you to work with texts, images, music and
sounds, scan, print and even reproduce, as well as test the computer and
optimize the work.
The additional programs are those that are purchased and installed separately, in addition to the standard Windows package.
memo pad
The program Notepad is a text editor simple enough to work
with small files (up to 40 kB), generally in format .txt . It is a program
designed to create, edit and view text documents. The text editor's Notepad
takes up little RAM and is therefore convenient to use for taking short notes,
marking up, editing scripts, as well as exchanging text fragments between
individual applications using the clipboard.
The notebook provides limited facilities for processing
documents; for example, you cannot use different fonts for individual parts of
text, but you can change the font type, size, and style throughout the
document. You can save a document from Notepad, just like any other Windows
application.
Calculator
The Windows calculator is used to perform relatively simple
calculations and works much like a regular pocket calculator. It has a memory
to contain intermediate calculation results. There are two calculator options
in Windows: standard and scientific. Switching between these modes is carried
out using menu commands in the Calculator program window.
A scientific calculator also allows you to calculate typical
mathematical functions and perform quite complex calculations, for example,
statistics. The calculation results can be copied to the clipboard.
WordPad word processor
WordPad is a modern and relatively simple word processor.
WordPad replaced the writing editor that was included with earlier versions of
Windows. Word processors, in addition to performing the basic functions of text
editors to create and edit text documents, perform another function: formatting
documents. Formatting : processing documents using various font sets, using
text alignment methods, embedding objects of different nature, such as
drawings, in a text document, as well as controlling the flow of text around
graphics.
WordPad supports the technology of inserting and embedding
objects, and when exchanging data between WordPad applications, it can be a
server (source) or a client (receiver). Although WordPad is notably inferior to
the more powerful Word word processor, it can be widely used to create
documents containing formatted text, graphic snippets, spreadsheets, and
Excel-created graphics pasted using the clipboard. In addition, WordPad allows
you to design presentations with multimedia elements, including connecting
audio, slide shows, and even small videos.
The program lets you configure the automatic word wrapping,
drag and drop selected fragments into a document with the mouse, use contextual
menus, provides several options to format text and improve the appearance of a
document, for example, the ability to set not only the font type and size, but
also the color of any character or complete text etc. WordPad allows you to
open and save files in three main formats:
1. In plain
or MS DOS text format.
2. In RTF
text format, with separate formatting elements.
3. In Word
6.0 format, with a wide range of formatting elements.
WordPad also allows you to open files with the .wri
extension - documents created in a text editor from earlier versions of Windows
Write. The WordPad word processor and Paint program described below are
single-window applications.
Paint editor
Program Paint is a relatively simple graphical editor
supplied by Windows 95/98 and Windows NT. The Paint program allows you to
create and edit arbitrary drawings, diagrams, drawings, diagrams, labels,
insert and edit prepared objects created in other applications. Objects created
in Paint can be saved as desktop backgrounds.
